Passionate about a career in farming or agriculture?
TC3 to Cornell Pathway
Students in the Sustainable Farming and Food Systems program at Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3) receive a solid foundation in sustainable agriculture practices, food systems and related business concepts. Upon successful completion of their A.A.S. degree, they can transfer to CALS' Agricultural Sciences B.S. program, where they can further develop their knowledge and skills in areas such as crop and soil sciences, animal science, agricultural economics and food science.
Reduced time and cost towards a 4-year degree in Agriculture
Featuring an expedited transfer timeline! Successful TC3 students will receive strong admissions consideration from Cornell for this pathway.
- Complete required courses at TC3
- Earn a minimum B grade and 3.0 GPA
- Apply for transfer to Cornell
1 year at TC3
- Spend two full semesters and a summer semester at the TC3 Farm to get hands-on experience with farming before you transfer.
- Collaborate with local farmers in the Dryden and Ithaca communities.
- Get a holistic perspective of how farming brings food to your plate, via connection to TC3's hospitality program.
4 semesters at Cornell
- Tackle important challenges, from improving the family farm to pursuing careers in policy, education, research or agricultural business.
- Deepen your understanding with specific concentrations of study.
- Gain practical, hands-on experience through lab and field courses and unparalleled access to world-class faculty, research opportunities and global networks.
