In collaboration, the Department of Global Development, the CALS Global Fellows Program, the Lund Fellowship for Regenerative Agriculture, and the Einhorn Center for Community Engagement welcome all members of the Cornell Community to join us for a day of activities focused on celebrating engaged and experiential learning in CALS.

Coffee and Conversation: Engaged Pedagogies at Universidad de San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) with special guests Drs. Karla Diaz & Nascira Ramia

Time: 9am-10:30am

Join us for coffee, bagels, and pastries as we learn from Drs. Karla Diaz and Nascira Ramia of Universidad de San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) about their institutional approach to community-based learning and how USFQ students are making lasting, positive, impacts on communities across Ecuador. Cornell students, faculty, and staff will have the opportunity to share lessons learned from their own experiences with engaged teaching and learning during this open forum. 

Student Experience Panel: Considering Ethical Engagement with Host Communities

Time: 11:30am-1pm

Location: Caldwell 100

Join CALS undergraduate students to hear about their engaged learning experiences and their perspectives on ethical challenges and opportunities that they navigated in the field. This event is open to all Cornellians but is likely to be of greatest interest to students who are planning for or recently returned from international experiences.

Unpacking the “Critical” in Reflection: Key Concepts and Good Practices Workshop

Time: 1:30pm-3pm

Location: Warren B-02

Join us to learn more about Critical Reflection and what makes it distinctive from other forms of reflection, how to use digital storytelling in courses and programs using a critical lens. This workshop will be of interest to teaching faculty and graduate students, as well as staff who facilitate engaged learning experiences. Lunch will be provided. Please register by October 24.


Student Poster Showcase

Time: 3:30pm-5:30pm

Location: Mann Library B75

The Student Poster Showcase is an opportunity for over sixty Cornell undergraduate students to highlight the rich array of work they did through CALS engaged and experiential learning opportunities. This includes our 2022 CALS Global Fellows (GFP), the Lund Fellows and our Global Interns. The event allows our students to showcase the work they achieved through engaged learning outside of the classroom through experiential learning opportunities such as research, internships, and study abroad programs. Refreshments will be served. This event is open to all Cornellians as well as the community.
