For the first time, New York state farmers can see prices and sales for meat and produce at farmers markets around the state, thanks to weekly price reports from a Dyson team.

The 20 finalist startups battling for $3 million in prize money in the fifth annual Grow-NY Food and Agriculture Business Competition were selected from more than 320 applicants, including 81 entries from New York state.

Researchers seek to support New York’s food and agriculture producers by calculating the “true cost of food,” which takes into account hidden costs like climate, environmental, fiscal, health and workers impacts.
