Entry for the Youth Dairy Judging competition is now open! The contest will be held on September 2nd during the colored-breed week during the New York State Fair.
Registration is required and it is open to any New York youth ages 8 to 19 using the following age divisions:
- Beginner: youth ages 8 to 10 as of Jan. 1 of the current year
- Junior: at least 9 and less than 14 years as of Jan. 1 of current year
- Senior: at least 14 years as of Jan. 1 of the current year and not reached their 19th birthday prior to or on Jan. 1 of the current year
Contestants will judge 8 classes of animals and Senior division will also give 4 sets of oral reasons to specific judges following the classes. We will be doing individual placings only for this event. If you are interested in earning a place on the State 4-H Dairy Judging Teams This Fall, this will be determined from participating in this event.

Location: NY State Fair, Dairy Cattle Barn Show Arena
Time: 11:30 AM
Registration deadline: August 24, 2021 (to be mailed an entry pass for the Fair)
Masks will be required while judging cattle due to close proximity during the contest. Please bring your own or if necessary one will be provided for you.
Please bring your own notebook and pen/pencil. Judging cards will be provided.
