Shannon works with NYSDEC to help Resilient NY Streams communities reduce their risk of flooding. Ecosystem-based adaptations (EbA) can divert, slow, and absorb stormwater that might otherwise damage homes and businesses.

Flood risk in New York is expected to increase as climate change causes more intense precipitation. Shannon uses her experience in ecology and science communication to help communities implement equitable EbA projects that will protect them from floodwaters now and build their capacity to adapt to changing conditions in the future.
