Ben (he/him/his) works as a Water Equity Specialist at NYS Water Resources Institute. In this role, Ben aims to identify and engage with communities that may benefit from technical assistance and access to federal and state-level programming for water infrastructure improvements across the EPA Region 2 (New York, New Jersey, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico). Ben uses a blend of community engagement, collaboration, and research to address different inequities in the water-service industry.

Prior to this, Ben attained a Master of Science in Geography from Texas A&M (2024) and a Master of Arts in Community Planning from the University of Washington, Tacoma campus (2018). He has served as research assistant at Texas A&M University, a technical assistance provider for rural communities across the US South, and a GIS Analyst for a non-profit in Washington state. Ben is excited to transition into a role that allows him to do meaningful work to bring water security to underserved and overburdened communities.
Please reach out to Ben if you are in need of federal or state dollars for water infrastructure improvement, if you know of communities in need of support, or if you are interested in learning about ways to prioritize equity within the water-service industry.
