Shawn Tiede is the 4-H Camp Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension & New York State 4-H Youth Development. Shawn began his Extension career in 2003 and joined the New York State 4-H staff in this role in 2009. In his capacity as 4-H Camp Specialist, he supports over 30 day and resident camp programs across the state of New York and has over 35 years of camping experience as a camper, camp staff, educator and administrator. An active member with the New York State Camp Directors Association and American Camp Association (ACA).
Shawn has served as past Chair of the Upstate New York Local Council of Leaders, Membership Chair and past member of the National Council of Leaders. Shawn is the recipient of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents Excellence in Camping award. He has served this association in many leadership roles including Past National President, National Conference Chair and currently as National Chair of the Positive Youth Development Academies. Shawn earned his M.S. in Camp Administration and Leadership from Touro University and his Bachelor of Science in Management from SUNY Geneseo.
