Rising Star Faculty Award 2024: Marla Lujan
Bio
Marla Lujan is an associate professor in the Division of Nutritional Sciences at Cornell University. She received her Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Physiology from Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario) and conducted her postdoctoral studies in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan with fellowship awards from the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation and Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
Her research program is focused on the interplay of nutrition, metabolic status and ovarian function, with translational research efforts geared toward improving the early detection and management polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). She contributed to the development of the current International PCOS Evidence-Based Guideline and is a standing member of the NIH Integrative and Clinical Endocrinology and Reproduction Study Section. Her research contributions have been recognized by awards from The Endocrine Society, Society for the Study of Reproduction and the Androgen Excess and PCOS Society. She is a recipient of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine Ira and Ester Rosenwaks New Investigator Award and is this year’s recipient of the Cornell University CALS Rising Star Faculty Award. She has a strong commitment to the development of early career faculty and trainees.
She is the founder and Faculty Lead of the Early Career Special Interest Group for the Androgen Excess and PCOS Society and is an active faculty trainer on NIH Training Grants in the areas of Nutrition and Translational Research, Maternal and Child Nutrition and Artificial Intelligence and Precision Nutrition.
