I am a technician in the Cornell Soil Health Lab (CSHL). My responsibilities include processing-in samples, Bulk Density analysis, and aiding in Available Water Capacity analysis.
Upon graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in 2020 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Footwear and Accessories design, I found the fashion world to be unsustainable. I became fascinated by our planet's way of creating life through death, preparing the ground for new life, and with this new interest discovered the importance of soil.
With a background that includes organic farming in Hawaii, a horticulture internship at Wave Hill in New York City, and operating a landscape design business, I joined the CSHL to learn from, and grow with, leaders in the field. I am currently taking classes focused on soil science at Cornell University in the hopes of pursuing a graduate degree in the future.
I am most at ease with the smell of a rich fungal compost filling my nostrils.
