CALS Rethink Project Leads and Contributors,

As Primacy finishes with designs and starts development of the new Drupal 8 environment for the Website Rethink Project, we are focusing our efforts on content and Web Accessibility through May and June.

Next Week: Accessibility Reports

This week, the CALS web-team is compiling reports to help you understand the web accessibility challenges on sites that are part of Cornell's remediation project.

We plan to send them to the website project leads early next week and request that you review the information by June 30. In July, we'll begin the remediation process and work together to address all content issues over the summer with your help.

Once reports are delivered, I'll set up webinars to offer everyone the chance to ask questions about their reports and the process.

Web Accessibility Policy

On May 2, the University finalized the policy for web accessibility.  Intended to govern new websites, web content and web applications at Cornell, this policy will help the university’s efforts to achieve compliance with federal law and meet or surpass WCAG 2.0 industry standards.

Reminder: Cornell IT Training

Cornell IT has scheduled continued training opportunities in CULearn. I recommend/request that everyone sign up for the free training if possible. We want contributors to have every opportunity to better understand the work involved.

If you edit or update information on a website, in Drupal or not, please make sure you take this free training:

  • Web Accessibility for Content Contributors
  • Web Accessibility Testing Workshop

The following workshops are being offered over the next few months for a fee. If you're interested in attending any of them, please reach out and let me know.

  • Acrobat Pro Custom: Modifying, Reviewing and Converting PDF Files
  • Acrobat Pro DC Creating and Managing Forms
  • Making Acrobat PDFs Accessible and Compliant

If you have questions, I'm here to answer them. Email me at tls245 [at] cornell.edu (tls245[at]cornell[dot]edu)!
