Gavalchin Mentoring Award

This award was created to honor Dr. Jerrie Gavalchin’s contributions and celebrate the generous spirit of mentorship that she embodied. Dr. Jerrie Gavalchin was many things to our department and had a profound impact through advising and mentoring of undergraduate students, especially those focused on gaining entrance into a school of veterinary medicine. Jerrie was passionate and unwavering in her advocacy for and sincerity in making sure every student had the support they needed in any form, at any time, and under just about any circumstance. She made it her mission to ensure as many of her advisees gained entrance into veterinary school or achieved whatever goal they had set for themselves. And she was genuine about all of it.
