Mike Hunter
Regional Field Crop Specialist, Cornell Cooperative Extension
Mike is a regional field crops specialist with the Cornell Cooperative Extension North Country Regional Agriculture Program. He has served the agricultural communities of Northern New York for over 22 years with Cornell Cooperative Extension. In this role, he serves farmers, crop consultants, and agribusinesses across the 6-county region, and his main responsibilities include:
- Providing research-based field crop production recommendations and resources with the goal of improving crop production efficiency through increased yields, improved quality, decreased input costs, protected yields, and new technologies
- Conducting on-farm agronomic research projects that address the needs of commercial crop production in Northern New York
- Providing educational programs that address agricultural producer identified needs
Mike received his Bachelor of Technology degree in animal science from the State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill and a Master of Science in agronomy from Iowa State University.
Mike’s areas of interest include corn and soybean weed control, herbicide resistance management, field crop insect, and disease control.
