What is the most memorable or impactful experience of your career so far?

I played a central role in the kick-off phase of the Tarbela 4th Extension HydroPower Project in Pakistan. By completing the mandatory requirements of a donor agency, funds were secured at an early date, thereby resulting in commissioning of a power house before the actual date of completion. This resulted in the generation of electricity that was worth millions.

What big challenges do you want to tackle in your country?

Many dam projects in Pakistan cannot be conceived due to disputes among provinces over their share of water once the dam is built. I aspire to equip myself with adequate skills to help create an environment of trust among provinces. Moreover, I want to run awareness campaigns regarding water conservation and its economic importance.

How do you think your Humphrey Fellowship and your time at Cornell will help boost your career?

I hope to gain knowledge regarding efficient management of water resources as well as skills to counter the hurdles in the construction of dams, especially related to dispute over water shares. I believe the Humphrey Fellowship will groom me to become a better water manager.
