Ph.D., Development Sociology
George's interests lie in the material and abstract deployment of violence outside of the limits of traditional statehood.
George's research interrogates the multi-fold connections between states, development, and power. His doctoral work examines the role of piracy in Somalia in both the production and deconstruction of Somali state sovereignty and uses the Somali case to inform analysis of other areas with fragile states.
