Gianna Haro
Climate Outreach and Water Equity Specialist, New York State Water Resources Institute
Gianna is part of the Climate Team at WRI, where she works on various projects such as Submerse NY, which raises flood awareness through art; invasive species analysis for the Great Lakes Action Agenda (GLAA) using GIS, Story Maps and ArcGIS Experience Builder, and conducting water equity research for EPA Region 2. She holds a B.S. Degree in Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from Cornell University. She brings over seven years of experience collaborating with stakeholders, including municipalities, communities, park rangers, scientists, among others. Her past work includes coordinating the National Education Plan for Sea Turtle Conservation with WildAid Inc. and Ecuador’s coastal fishing communities; working with communities in Ecuador’s tropical Tagua (Ivory Nut) Forest; and working as a Naturalist Guide interpreting wildlife and climate change aboard the National Geographic Lindblad Expeditions boats in the Galápagos Islands and Alaska. Gianna also produced the first documentary focusing on the vital role of women in science and conservation in the Galápagos, called "Journey Back to Alcedo".
