Fanghui Xiao

Dr.Fanghui Xiao is a postdoctoral associate at Cornell University. Her work focuses on digital literacy and media literacy for the elderly population. She is dedicated to exploring and understanding the effective methods and strategies that can convey essential knowledge and skills that empower older adults to protect themselves from harmful disinformation and scams. Fanghui is collaborating with project team members to design a gamified education platform for the DART project. The aim of this platform is to equip older adults with the skills and knowledge to help them navigate the digital world safely and confidently. Prior to joining Cornell, Fanghui earned her Ph.D. in Information Science at the School of Computing and Information, University of Pittsburgh. Her dissertation research was at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Data Interaction (HDI), Open Data, and Data Literacy. Her work has been published in ASIS&T, ACM CHI and CHIIR.
