Welcome to CALS!

You are joining an acclaimed community of scholars and engaged citizens who have been advancing purpose-driven science for more than a century. Since 1888, our classrooms, labs and research farms have generated countless “firsts and bests.” From the invention of the chicken nugget to the world’s first university journalism class and the creation of hundreds of new fruits and vegetables, CALS is known throughout the world for its pioneering solutions and unexpected discoveries. We welcome you.

To prepare you for your role within CALS, we invite you to take a 90-minute walking tour of the CALS campus, during which you will learn about some of CALS’ most notable contributions to the life, agricultural, environmental and social sciences, both here in the U.S. and across the globe. We guarantee that you will feel inspired and proud to be part of our passionate and life-changing community.
