Reference Check

Harver (formerly Checkster) is an electronic tool that streamlines the reference checking process; the College requires all references to be conducted via Harver for all staff and union positions (internal and external candidates).

By utilizing this tool, the time it takes for the reference check to be completed will be reduced. Additionally, we will receive an increase in the number of references we receive feedback from and reduce the opportunity for bias.

Harver will generate a report that aggregates the numerical rankings and provides the written feedback for each reference type (supervisors, peers, clients/customers, and, if applicable, subordinates). Since this is a confidential report, you will not be informed of the individual feedback. Your HR Representative will send you this report.

If needed, you can still follow up with the reference to obtain additional information, such as a technical skill set or an area of concern that requires further clarification.

For internal candidates, your HR Representative will contact the candidate's local HR office; a full reference check must still be completed.
