MyCALSMoment
The highlight of my time at CALS has been the Raptor Club. I have learned to grow comfortable with hawks and falcons and owls, an opportunity I didn’t think I would get in college. I have been able to observe how they train and that has just furthered my belief that animals are far more capable than most people realize.
What has been an academic highlight for you within your major?
I think the highlight of my major has been taking classes from Dr Allen. He teaches two of the required first year classes in animal science and it a favorite among everyone. He is passionate, funny, and very open with his students in a way that makes learning easy and everyone excited to get to class.
What is something you have been involved with outside of academics that is meaningful to you?
The CALS resources helped me get an internship this summer at a wildlife rehabilitation center. I was able to work with some animals I’d be able to find opportunities with on campus like various birds, but I was also able to work with those that aren’t as easily accessible like harbor seals. I wouldn’t have had this opportunity without CALS
What are your post-graduation goals?
After graduation I plan to go to Vet school which is the main reason I chose Cornell between the academic rigor and the vast resources Cornell has a far higher rate of helping students achieve this goal than the national average.
