I never thought I would find myself dealing with sea urchins, yet alone artificially inseminating one for Biology of Reproduction!
What has been an academic highlight for you within your major?
This would have to be taking Introduction to Raptor Husbandry with Dr. Huson where we discussed topics from physiology to learning how to make their meals by hand. By the end of the class, I was able to hold a hawk all by myself and do all of the necessary knots and with only one hand!
What is something you have been involved with outside of academics that is meaningful to you?
My sophomore year, I joined the Pan-African Students Association which has helped me become more involved with the Black community on campus. I work as a finance director and have enjoyed everything from planning fashion shows and barbeques to making endless Excel spreadsheets. It has been refreshing to explore beyond the Animal Science department and make friends in different colleges, majors, and colleges.
What are your go-to campus resources?
I always enjoy using my graduate TAs for academic support. I've found that they are a perfect balance of being knowledgeable and relatable.
