Business Development Specialist, Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture, Cornell AgriTech
Ed Maguire leverages more than three decades of food manufacturing experience to help position food and agricultural start-ups for success in his role as business development manager for the Center of Excellence.
Before forming the consulting group, FLX Research, Ed served as vice president of operations for an Upstate New York start-up, where he increased revenue exponentially and revamped the company’s manufacturing and distribution hub by leading its move to a large, high-efficiency facility. Ed’s career has included work with small businesses and globally-recognized companies, in roles as diverse as product development, quality assurance, plant management, information technology, business to business brand management and corporate strategic planning.
Ed holds a degree in chemistry and mathematics from Clarkson University and Elmira College, which he earned while serving as production shift supervisor and ultimately chief candy chemist for The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company’s mega-plant in Horseheads, NY. He sits on the advisory panel for FoodLink, greater Rochester’s non-profit food bank, and the Cornell University AgriTech Advisory Council. He and his wife, Teresa, live in Fairport and have three successful, grown children.
Our Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture (COE) has been helping food and ag businesses adapt to the COVID-19 economy with new marketing strategies and by diversifying products. “Whether we are helping startups with their business plans or looking at ways that we can assist farmers during the upcoming growing season,” said Cathy Young, executive director of the COE. "We want members of the food and ag community to know that we are here for them.”
