Who We Are

The Urban Agriculture Program Work Team was established in 2021 to:

  • Build connections by identifying existing urban agriculture program providers and familiarizing members with Cornell Cooperative Extension associates working in this field.
  • Offer professional development to our members, including hosting tours of UA projects across the state and facilitating discussions with speakers from industry, DEI, and academia, etc.
  • Conduct a statewide needs assessment with growers and stakeholders in the UA context.

Who Manages the PWT?

Cornell Cooperative Extension
From food and nutrition to economic vitality to environmental and social resilience, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) is dedicated to improving lives across New York state. CCE connects communities with Cornell University research from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Human Ecology (CHE) to enrich and empower New York state neighbors, local businesses, towns and cities.
Harvest New York Urban Agriculture Program
Harvest New York (HNY) is an innovative CCE team that focuses on development projects in the farm and food industries of rural and urban New York. The Urban Agriculture HNY program provides support for urban agriculture in all five boroughs of NYC. With an emphasis on growing for market, HNY serves urban farmers through educational programming, technical assistance, and research.
UA Program Work Team
Cornell Cooperative Extension Program Work Teams (PWT) are communities of learning and practice that focus on specific Extension areas and issues. PWTs bring Cornell faculty and staff, CCE educators, industry members, and stakeholders together to collaborate and innovate. The UA PWT connects urban agriculture projects and advocates across NY.
