Outreach, Strategy and Recommendations for CCE Ulster County to Connect with Spanish-speaking Audiences

The selected CCE intern will connect with and determine how to best serve the needs of the Spanish and O'eqchi' speaking community with current and future resources.
Roles and responsibilities
The intern will work with CCE Ulster County to:
- Review related materials including A Sus Ordenes materials
- Research and connect with current organizations serving Spanish-speaking residents and identify current initiatives to identify gaps and avoid duplication of efforts; this should include No One Leaves Mid-Hudson, La Voz, Cornell’s Migrant Farmworker Project etc.
- Attend Spanish-language events in the Hudson Valley to connect
- Conduct outreach about needs
- Inventory/observe Cooperative Extension programs delivered in Spanish
- Design templates for future programming in Spanish
Qualifications and previous coursework
This opportunity was made available to non-graduating students enrolled in Cornell University's CAS, ILR, AAP, COE and JCB.
- Proficient in Spanish
- Strong written and spoken communication skills
- Able to operate independently and cooperatively
- Ability to compile and analyze survey data
- Good judgment
- Adaptability and flexibility
- Problem-solving about how to deliver programming in low-resource environments
- Ability to connect with diverse audiences
Learning outcomes
The student intern will submit a Final Report recommending steps for CCE Ulster County to best serve Spanish-speaking audiences with current resources, and what resources should be sought in the future to best serve these audiences.
