Onboarding New Employees for Agricultural Employers

Onboarding new employees is critical to helping them get started in a way that is safe, production, and engaging. Cornell Agricultural Workforce Development (CAWD) and CCE partners have developed methods and tools to assist farms with developing their new employee onboarding programs. This internship is about working with farm employers to develop their onboarding programs with the direct assistance of educators and CCE interns. Interns will assist farms, learn about farm human resource management, and collect data to continue development of the overall onboarding program.
Roles and responsibilities
Under the supervision of CAWD and CCE professionals, the student intern will meet with farms, learn about their onboarding goals and objectives, and provide direct support to farms with developing farms' new employee onboarding programs. This support could include: developing an onboarding checklists, standard operating procedures, developing a customized Google Classroom for the farm, shooting video for use in training, and other tasks.
Qualifications and previous coursework
This opportunity is available to non-graduating students in Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

- Good communication skills
- Basic knowledge of production agriculture in New York
- Farm safety knowledge
- Spanish language skills
- The selected intern will be required to drive on behalf of the summer project and will need to have reliable transportation
