Moving forward, together

Our collective goal is to reimagine the future of food and agriculture systems through innovative research, technology and education to improve the health of the people, environment and economy of New York state and beyond.

In support of this mission, our community is hard at work to make Cornell AgriTech a more inclusive and equitable place, drawing on the strengths that connect us. In fall 2020, we launched a new committee representing all units to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) principles and practices on the Geneva campus. This committee's initiatives will also foster opportunities to reach a wider range of New York state communities, further enhancing the college's Land-Grant mission.

2020- 2021 accomplished DEI initiatives include:

  • Completion of implicit bias training with members of Cornell AgriTech executive committee, so our leadership can take an active role in creating positive cultural change.
  • Survey of the Cornell AgriTech community on sentiments regarding current DEI on the Geneva campus.
  • Creation of a web presence and newsletter to share DEI committee activities and resources with the AgriTech community.
  • Launch of a DEI book, podcast and movie group to foster group learning and networking.
  • Planning future DEI speakers and events to educate and inspire the AgriTech community.
  • Completion of a webinar hosted by Kurt Jordan, director of the American Indian and Indigenous Studies program, for the Cornell AgriTech community on native dispossession of lands currently occupied by the Cornell AgriTech campus.
