Program information
As an Indigenous Summer Research Scholar, you will work with Cornell faculty, their graduate students, postdocs and Cornell AgriTech staff on a laboratory- or field-based research project.
Your experience will help you develop the skills needed to plan and conduct experiments, evaluate data, communicate results, and learn about opportunities in agricultural and food research.
2025 program specifics
Nine-week internships to conduct research in a faculty program at Cornell AgriTech.
- Gain research experience and learn about the diverse agriculture and food systems in New York.
- Participate in additional professional enrichment programming and field trips.
- Benefits include housing and a $6,200 stipend.
- Program start and end date: Thursday, May 29 - Friday, August 1, 2025.
Scholars will have the opportunity to participate in other career-related activities including trips to farms, orchards, and vineyards in the area. Other touring opportunities will also be available, for example weekend trips to Niagara Falls, the Eastman (Kodak) House, Corning Museum of Glass, hiking in the Finger Lakes region, etc.
Eligibility
- Must be a member of an Indian tribe as defined in section 4 of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C 5304).
- Must be 18 years of age by June 2025.
- Must be enrolled in and have at least one semester remaining in an undergraduate program in the life sciences or other relevant field as of July 2025.
