Marco Malo ‘25

Marco is a returning Student Advisor, senior, in the Neurobiology and Behavior concentration. During the summer he has taken some summer classes, and this summer he volunteered at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He is also a part time mechanic during the summer. After graduation he plans to take a gap year to work in a healthcare related field while he studies for the MCAT before applying to medical school. On campus he works in the Deitcher Lab with a focus on neurobiology. He is working on drosophila melanogaster examining their brains and how that affects seizures correlated to human seizures. He also volunteers at Cayuga Medical Center, is a member of Cornell EARS, captain of the intramural soccer team, involved in Habitat for Humanity, on the advisory board for the Cornell Cinema, and a member of the pre-med Minority Mentorship program. For fun, he liks to watch movies of all generes with his friends, play the guitar, go for walks, and attend school events with his friends.

His advice to freshmen:

“Remember to have sympathy for yourself. The transition to Cornell is going to be hard, whether socially or academically, and because of that, it's important to be kind to yoruself and have some compassion as you navigate this time in your life when things will change a lot.”
