Lukas Vera ‘24

Lukas is concentrating in Genetics, Genomics, and Development and plans to take a gap year before attending graduate school! Lukas is researching post-translational histone modifications in Herpes (HSV-1) viral infections in the Schang Lab at Cornell and is a member of the Cornell Marching Band, the Pep Band, and the Brain Exercise Institute. Last summer, he took a Finnish language course in Finland and plans to do research this upcoming summer in a lab in the Cornell Institute of Host-Microbe Interactions and Disease! His favorite course at Cornell has been HIST 1850: Thinking about History with the Manson Murders, and for fun, Lukas likes to hang out with his friends, hike, go to band events, and explore Ithaca.

Lukas wants incoming first years to know:

I know everything can seem overwhelming at first but there are plenty of resources here to help you and many people who are rooting for your success.”
