Kareena Dash '23

Kareena is concentrating in General Biology with plans to take a gap year and do a clinical opportunity before applying for medical school after graduation. On campus, she is involved in Cornell Sitara, Big Red Buddies, Big Red Marching and Pep Bands. She is part of the Uyar Research Group which focuses on using nanofibers and nanotextiles for medical applications. This past summer, she did the Cornell Nanoscale Facility REU Program with the Ober Research Group, where she synthesized polymer films for silicon wafers. In her spare time, she likes to hang out with friends, get boba, listen to her Spotify Recommended, and play the piano.

Her favorite class is BME 2210: Biomaterials: Foundations and Application in Medicine. She is looking forward to meeting new freshmen through Orientation Advising Meetings and Office Hours this school year! She encourages new students to enjoy themselves and the people around them.

Her advice for incoming students:

Try everything you set your mind too! That's the best way to figure out what you like and might want to pursue. You have lots of time to explore, so do not worry. Also, don't let bad grades stop you from believing in your ability to do well.
