About
Prior to joining Cornell, Amrutha worked with the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in their Poverty, Health and Nutrition Division. She also worked for two years at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies, a public policy think-tank in New Delhi, as a research assistant to legislators. Amrutha holds a master’s degree in Public Policy from the National Law School of India University, Bangalore and an undergraduate degree in English from St. Stephen’s College, University of Delhi.
She enjoys conducting research on social policy in India and has co-authored a paper titled “Caste and Distributive Justice: Can Social Policy Address Durable Inequalities?”, published in Social Policy and Administration. As part of her PhD, she is interested in studying the sociology of access to food, particularly among marginalized communities in India. Research interests extent across state-society interaction, food security, land governance, social inequalities; particularly in India.
