Install a network printer from the Cornell directory

If you have a Cornell-owned computer that is on the Cornell domain, follow the steps below:

Windows 7 instructions:

  1.  Go to the Start button and click on ‘Devices and Printers.’
  2. Click on ‘Add a Printer.’
  3.  Click on ‘Add a Network, Wireless or Bluetooth Printer.’
  4. Click on ‘The Printer that I want isn’t listed.’
  5. Click the button for ‘Find a printer in the directory…’, then click ‘Next.’

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

     6. In the resulting window, type the building name where the printer is located into the ‘Location’ field (In this case we will use Bradfield).  Then click ‘Find Now.’

7. You will see a list of all the printers in the building which are listed in the directory.  Click to highlight the printer you want (They are listed as Department‐BuildingRoom‐Model) and click ‘OK.’

 

8. Your computer will download a driver which can take a few minutes.
*Note- If you are prompted for a user name and password, this is your Cornell NetID and password, the same information you use to log on to your computer.
*Note- If prompted, click ‘Install Driver.’

9. Once that is complete, you will receive a confirmation window.  Click ‘Next

10. You may then decide whether or not you want to use this as your default printer in the following screen.  Then click ‘Finish.’

The printer has been installed and will be available to applications after the next time they are launched.

If you have any difficulty installing this printer, please visit the following URL and submit an incident ticket so that we may assist you.  Please include the make/model and location of the printer you want installed and what computer it needs to be installed on (Serial # / Dell Service Tag #).  You may also submit the request directly from the computer that needs the printer, mention so in the request, and we can track the computer from there.

Windows 10 instructions:
