Food (In)Security conference poster

DSOC faculty Phil McMichael, new faculty member and alumna Rachel Bezner-Kerr and alumna Hannah Wittman presented at the University of Chicago's Food (In)Security series on May 9th.

DSOC PhD candidate Brian Thiede was one of the 16 presenters from DSOC at the Population Association of America's Annual Meeting on May 3-5. Others presenters were: F. Arguillas, A. Basu, D. Brown, P. Eloundou-Enyegue, A. Flaim, J. Francis, S. Giroux, D. Gurak, T. Hirschl, M. Kritz, D. Lichter, S. Sanders, S. Sassler and L. Williams.  Full list here.

 Dr. Marygold Walsh-Dilley received the Philip Taietz Prize for most outstanding paper presented at a scholarly meeting for the year 2011.

Steven Wolf gave a talk in the Yale Forestry Forum, "Construction of working forests in the Adirondacks: What can contemporary experiences tell us about institutional complementarity, hybridity and stickiness?"

Contested Global Landscapes: Property, Governance, Economy, & Livelihoods on the Ground

The Institute for the Social Sciences is pleased to announce the just-selected 2012-2015 theme project, "Contested Global Landscapes: Property, Governance, Economy and Livelihoods on the Ground." This project is co-led by Charles Geisler and Wendy Wolford, both from Development Sociology, and thus far includes the following Cornell faculty:  Nancy Chau, Applied Economics and Management, and Paul Nadasdy, Anthropology and American Indian Studies.  PDF here.
