Job Description

Establish a nutrition education and physical activity project in Dutchess County for the prevention of childhood obesity
Coordinating community-based resources leading to sustained environmental and policy changes to reduce risks for chronic diseases during the pre-school through elementary school period
In-depth disciplinary support and input into program development, evaluation, marketing, and leadership
Delivery of subject-matter educational programs to the appropriate professional, community, individual, and family target audiences
Work with related community-based programs, organization, and professionals
Work collaboratively with physical activity sub-contractor for this project
Assist and provide input to the Food, Nutrition, and Wellness Program and Family & Consumer Sciences Issue Area in program development
Conduct needs assessments, focus groups, surveys, and other research as needed to identify existing policies, procedures, and environmental systems for gaps relative to childhood obesity and the prevention of chronic disease

Job Qualifications

Required:

Necessary:

Certified to practice in New York State
Registered dietitian (active registration with Professional Development Portfolio)
Experience in community nutrition
Experience with evaluation, including but not limited to outcomes identification
Experience with confidentiality, computer data management, and fiscal accountabilities

Desired:

Basic understanding of fitness and physical activity needs, methods, and programs for general populations
Experience working with Health and Human Services agencies and other community organizations, including faith-based, impacting, or serving the target audiences identified within the responsibilities of this position
