Job Description
- Develop the scientific underpinnings and rationale for determining restoration needs and designing restorations projects
- Technical restoration planning including development of detailed workplans, timelines, personnel needs, and budgets
- Leading and supporting the implementation of restoration projects
- Designing and helping to implement field-based and remote sensing monitoring to evaluate success and inform adaptive management
- Work closely with staff to identify funding sources, write grant proposals, and manage and report out on grant-funded projects
- Work closely with science, stewardship, and land protection staff and will require frequent contact with partners, field staff, academic researchers, local communities, and other stakeholders
Job Qualifications
- Successful candidate will be experienced in restoration ecology, an effective communicator, organized and attentive to detail, and interested and willing to spend significant time in the field
- Commitment to the biodiversity conservation mission of The Nature Conservancy (TNC)
- Master's degree in natural sciences, wildlife biology, landscape ecology, or field relevant to natural resources conservation
- 3 years experience in conservation, resource management , or related field
- Knowledge of current trends and practices
- Ability / willingness to understand and apply science to inform decision-making
- Analytical skills including manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting statistical data
- Managing time and diverse activities under deadlines while delivering quality results
- Willingness and ability to continue to advance in the face of adversity or setback
- Strong drive for results, demonstrated initiative, strong leadership capabilities
- Sound word processing, spreadsheet, web, and literature research skills
- Excellent communication skill via written, spoken, and graphical means
