Job Description
The Investment Analyst will be an integral part of a team of four investment professionals managing over $700 million in private equity investments in agricultural real estate for the Hancock Agricultural Investment Group (HAIG). The Analyst will be responsible for four main areas: transaction underwriting and analysis, commodity research, client marketing, and asset management. The Analyst will work closely with the Director of Asset Management, HAIG’s Managing Director, Portfolio Manager, client accounting and reporting group, and legal counsel, as well as directly with HAIG’s national property management firm, Farmland Management Services.
Job Qualifications
The position requires a solid understanding of and genuine interest in agriculture, a firm grasp of investment strategy and financial analysis, and general knowledge of alternative asset classes and the investment management industry. Strong research, communication, and writing skills are key qualities. Additionally, the candidate must demonstrate proficiency in analytical thinking and a willingness to take ownership of and expand project-oriented work with limited oversight and information. The candidate must be a self starter, but comfortable sharing projects and working with multiple business areas. An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or agriculture is required. An advanced degree is preferred. A willingness to travel is also required.
