Job Description
- Manage the Alumni Program including the day-to-day activities of the staff and the office
- Manage and supervise the special events manager and 2 student workers
- Manage the office budget
- Advise the Associate Dean on matters pertaining to alumni relations and program development
- Oversee and support regional alumni chapters
- Responsible for strategic planning for the alumni program in the context of the School-wise RBTF initiative; and for goal development and implementing measures of success
- Develop new alumni relations program initiatives; explore opportunities to strengthen existing programs; and evaluate staff deployment as appropriate
- Act as the lead representative for SAIS on the Alumni Council and provide support for several of the working committees of the Alumni Council
- Coordinate with colleagues responsible for alumni relations in Bologna and Nanjing to take advantage of opportunities for collaboration and ensure consistency in outreach efforts
- Represent the alumni office at various activities and events and at various internal meetings.
- Create and manage the overall alumni outreach publication strategy and process
- Oversee the recruitment of 150 volunteers by members of the Alumni Council, ensuring that roles and expectations are clearly articulated and that staff points of contact are identified and engaged
- Prepare correspondence related to administering the needs and desires of alumni and others associated with the University as well as letters of sympathy, congratulations, etc
- Serve as the primary liaison to the Johns Hopkins University alumni relations office
Job Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in development and alumni relations in a higher education or comparable and relevant experience in a non-profit or private sector institution
- Proven management and organizational skills
- Strong oral and written skills
- Ability to manage many projects simultaneously involving alumni volunteers
- Ability to motivate and persuade
- Must be adept at working effectively with diverse constituent groups and senior institutional staff
- Proven track record of building programs and motivating staff and volunteers
- Ability to travel for business
- U.S. driver's license
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
