Job Description
- Develop policy recommendations and documents for coordination and management of all matter pertaining to budgets
- Develop plans and recommendations for the management of the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES) real properties, including leases, easements, and use of plant funds
- Maintain federal financial reporting requirements for administration of the MAES responsibilities to USDA / Cooperative State, Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES)
- Coordinate state and internal financial compliance audit activities with the MSU Internal Audit Office
- Serve on the central administrative team for the MAES and College of Agriculture (COA) with the Dean and Director, and the Associate Dean
- Serve as a resource to COA / MAES department heads and fiscal staff and faculty
- Supervise assigned support staff
- Travel periodically to state-wide research centers and national and regional meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in business administration, accounting, or related field
- Progressively responsible experience in a position dealing with state or federal budgeting
Preferred:
- CPA or Master's Degree in business administration, accounting, or related field
- Five years experience in fiscal / busness management in an institution of higher learning
- Experience in or with a land grant university
- Experience in analyzing, interpreting, and applying regulations, policies, and procedures in areas related to fiscal management and operations in a complex organization
- Experience utilizing computer applications for budget and fiscal management
- Ability to work effectively with persons of varying levels or responsibility and experience
- Current State of Montana Realtor s license and / or knowledge of Montana laws including water right laws and / or agricultural law
