Monsanto is seeking an exceptionally talented Research Scientist to become part of the Biotechnology organization. The selected candidate will be part of a larger multi-disciplinary effort aimed at developing methods for discovery and advancing the knowledge base around high priority leads in our crop pipeline. Successful applicants will work in a team based environment, manage individual project(s) and interact cross functionally within the organization.

Required Skills/Experience:
• Applicants should have a Ph. D. degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or Biochemistry with 5+ years of laboratory experience. Expertise in working with plants is desirable but not a prerequisite. A strong background in developing assays and conducting cellular studies to elucidate physiological phenomena or metabolic pathways is required as is a basic knowledge of Bioinformatics. Expertise in protein -protein and protein-nucleic acid interactions will be a plus. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, project leadership ability and be highly motivated, independent, innovative and results-oriented.
Required Skills/Experience:
• Demonstrated skills in Cell Biology or Plant Biology is considered a plus(eg. transient systems, model systems, plant physiology, microscopy)
Good computer skills, specifically using MS Office programs is required
Good working knowledge of basic bioinformatic tools is required.
Attention to detail, strong experimental design, data analysis and interpretation skills, strong ability to work in a team setting, and strong communication and organizational skills are essential
Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
Experience with automation is desirable
