Job Description
The Chazy Central Rural School Board of Education seeks an established educational leader committed to enhancing our climate of excellence for students, faculty, staff and the Chazy Community.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the vision and leadership that will ensure the maintenance of an excellent school system which meets the diverse needs of its students without exceeding the financial capabilities of the community.
This challenge will require foresight, planning, creativity, and effective management.
The Chazy Superintendent also serves as high school principal. The Board anticipates an appointment by March 2010, and the desired start date for the new superintendent/high school principal to assume his/her duties is June 21, 2010.
Applicants should provide a letter of interest, completed application form, current resume, copy of NYS SDA certificate, university placement folder or three current letters of recommendation, a statement on the candidate's educational philosophy, and a narrative response describing:
- an experience which significantly affected his/her view of teaching,
- an experience which most influences his/her management style,
- a program in which he/she took leadership as an administrator to help meet the needs of children in his/her district, and
- how he/she would go about implementing an effective system for communicating to all members of the school community.
Job Qualifications
- Certification as a school district administrator in New York
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of public school finance, transportation, collective negotiations and contract management
- Experience in team decision making, possess willingness to encourage collaboration, seek participation from all entities, and be able to achieve consensus
- Ability to identify problems, establish priorities, implement solutions, and evaluate results
- Ability to develop and maintain an effective public relations program keeping the Board of Education and the public well informed of district's activities and needs
- Ability to lead and motivate staff in improving the k-12 curriculum and instructional program
- Personnel management ability including selection, development and evaluation of staff
- Ability and firm belief in administering good student discipline. which engenders respect and cooperation.
