Job Description
Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture, a non-profit arts organization dedicated to educating youth about Arabic language, arts, and culture, is currently seeking to hire a Director of Education.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Developing and managing ongoing educational programs, e.g. summer camp, in/after-school based arts program, music instruction and appreciation, weekend language and arts workshops, and demonstrations/workshops by master artists.
2. Developing curricular material and thematic content for each program
3. Managing outreach and promotion of Al-Bustan programs to public and independent schools, organizations, and home communities
Position reports to Executive Director, to begin part-time in July and continue full-time (30 hrs/week) starting in September.

Job Qualifications
Requirements:
Education:
- Must have Bachelors degree, preferably pursuing/completed Masters degree, in secondary school education, arts education, or arts therapy-related field.
Experience:
- Must have at least three years experience implementing educational arts programs, developing curricula, and teaching in secondary schools, or working as recreational, music, art or dance therapist with children and youth.
Skills:
- Creative thinker, able to conceive and manage educational and budget aspects of multiple programs
- Able to effectively engage with children and youth
- Able to lead and manage a team of educators, teaching artists, camp counselors, and program assistant
- Highly organized with ability to multi-task and coordinate overlapping schedules
- Excellent writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to take initiative and work well with diverse constituencies
- Computer proficient in MS Word and Excel
- Highly knowledgeable about the Arab region, arts, and culture
- Preferably conversant or fluent in the Arabic language
