Job Description
Premio Foods, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of quality Italian fresh dinner sausage.
The successful candidate will play a meaningful role in quality systems planning and maintenance, and in research & development initiatives.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in evaluating and improving the production system by implementing/monitoring standards for product quality.
- Assist in maintaining a production system audit program where finished product and critical control points are monitored and evaluated. Documenting and communicating results to production personnel and management.
- Assist in overseeing the facility HACCP program.
- Participating in technological improvements for the production system and in Research and Development projects.
- Assist in maintaining a system for product labeling, file history, a shelf life testing program.
- Assist in evaluating ingredient and materials suppliers and continuously striving to improve their contributions to the production system.
- Remaining abreast of technology, governmental regulations, and developments in the food manufacturing industry.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Microbiological procedures and evaluation.
- Proximate analysis procedures.
- Other chemical analysis procedures.
- HACCP & SSOP programs.
- Label development (nutrition fact).
-Taste test development and evaluation.
- Research & development.
- Continuous improvement of product quality.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with management staff and employees.
- Self-motivated and goal oriented, with a positive attitude and a high degree of initiative.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced working environment, where a high degree of organization, team work and multi-tasking are required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Internet Explorer.
Experience/Education Required:
- A minimum of 1-2 years of Quality Assurance or R&D experience, ideally within a food manufacturing environment.
- A BS Degree in Food Science.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable.
