Job Description
Kraft Foods Global, Inc. is currently seeking a Sr. Scientist for the Bioconversions group in Ingredient and Process Research located in Glenview, IL.
The Sr. Scientist position provides an excellent opportunity to establish technical and strategic leadership in the discovery and development of food ingredients through the use of biological systems and processes.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Navigating amongst biological sciences and creatively translating ideas to the food industry.
- Playing an integral role in shaping Kraft's future in applied biochemistry, microbiology and fermentation technology.
- Project leadership in new initiatives from idea to implementation.
- Ensuring the design, development, and execution of projects involving microbial and enzymatic conversions in collaboration with research teams.
- Investigating the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories to potential inventions that can be successful integrated into the Kraft product portfolio.
- Maintaining substantial knowledge of state of the art technologies related to biological systems
- Influencing the direction of internal and external research that results in applications for multiple product categories.
Job Qualifications
Qualified candidates should possess the following:
- PhD in Biological Sciences, preferably with post doctoral experience.
- Experience with BioInformatic tools applied to microbial metabolism and/or microbial ecology.
- Agility to clearly communicate and effectively collaborate with technical and managerial professionals from a variety of disciplines.
- Skills to connect and apply a variety of technical approaches toward the development of bioconversions for food applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
