Job Description
Soil and Water Conservation Committee: The mission of this NYS Committee is "to develop a responsible Soil and Water Conservation Program for the State of New York that will be implemented through Soil and Water Conservation Districts." The Committee establishes policy to guide the Soil and Water Conservation Districts' programs to assist the State's Soil and Water Conservation Districts in organizing, developing, and implementing programs, to advise all agencies of government on matters relating to soil and water conservation, and to work in concert with State and Federal agencies to reduce pollution of the State's water resources and improve the quality of these resources.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Division Director, Soil and Water Conservation Committee, this positive provides administrative and technical services, support and information to the Soil and Water Conservation Committee and the 58 Soil and Water Districts. This position proposes policy and designs procedures for the administration of Committee programs and Divisional operations. The Assistant Director evaluates District activities, programs and projects to ensure effective compliance with State Committee policies and procedures, State Conservation District Law and contract provisions.
Job Qualifications
OPEN COMPETITIVE QUALIFICATIONS: Eight years of progressively responsible experience in agricultural, environmental, soil and water conservation natural resource management; or a Bachelor's degree in agriculture, ag business, environmental studies, agribusiness management, farm business management, ag enginnering, ag economics, agronomy, environmental resources, environmental science, environmental and forest biology, forestry, forest engineering, or a related field, plus four years of experience as described above; or a Master's degree in the above fields plus three years of experience listed above; or one year of experience as an Associate Environmental Analyst (Agriculture).
