Job Description
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: Provide support for and conduct administrative and other program tasks to assist Urban Environment Area staff in program planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as with organizational functions, including support for data management, marketing/promotion, communications, purchasing and preparation of materials and supplies to support outreach. Supervision provided by the UE
Program Leader. Assist in the ongoing management of program-related material and resources targeted to participants and partners, as well as in support of public requests/inquiries. Assist in the development and/or modification, including design and content of program, marketing and/or reporting materials, such as flyers,
event programs, invitations and certificates. Reproduce, compile, and package materials as needed for presentation and/or distribution. Assist in the preparation and management of data to help ensure accurate and timely reports for use in program evaluation and documentation or administrative purposes. Order technical/educational materials and equipment and office supplies and maintain and secure inventory. Assist
with logistical planning and site set-up to support program activities, meetings, special events, forums/conferences, staff in-service seminars, etc., as necessary. Maintain and update program files and mailing lists. Assist staff in the development and maintenance of web pages, such as updating content, images and graphics, as needed. Assist in distributing materials by mail and/or electronic methods. Conduct courier activities to other offices and vendor businesses, as needed.
Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree or college coursework in environmental or natural resources sciences with at least two years of progressively responsible work experience in non-profit, education, or relevant professional experience. Ability to take direction from supervisor and area leader, work collaboratively as a team member and to relate effectively with others on staff and with the public, as well as work independently on
assignments, as appropriate to the specified task. Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks
and assignments with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work under pressure and to handle and meet deadlines. Proficiency with computer technology and software, including the Internet, electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and presentation software (including Word, Excel, Access,
Publisher and PowerPoint). Basic proficiency in the development of presentation and word processing documents, including demonstrated graphics, layout, formatting skills. Ability and willingness to work with diverse urban audiences, and travel in a variety of NYC communities. Willingness to work flexible hours, as needed, with occasional evening and weekend work. Bilingual in Spanish desired.
