Job Description
The FSNE Nutrition Educator and Project Leader at the Engaged University is a full-time non-tenure track Associate Agent position. The position is part of the Food Stamp Nutrition Education program (FSNE) conducted by the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension. FSNE provides nutrition programming to food stamp participants and those income eligible for food stamps. The educator will deliver nutrition education programs to food stamp participants in Prince George's County and provide leadership to the project. The position will be housed at the Engaged University's office.
Responsibilities Include:
- Serve as the project leader of the FSNE nutrition program at the Engaged University.
- Plan and conduct nutrition education programs for food stamp participants in Prince George's County.
- Develop teaching materials to support programming.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community organizations to plan, implement and evaluate programs and seek new partnerships to deliver nutrition education programs.
- Use FSNE evaluation instruments to conduct program assessment and report formative, process, and outcome evaluation data.
- Attend FSNE staff development programs and participate in monthly conference calls.
- Assist with the development of the FSNE annual proposal with input from team members and collaborators.
Job Qualifications
Qualifications:
Required –
· Bachelor’s Degree in nutrition, health education, or a related field.
· Applicants must be self-motivated, flexible, innovative, and resourceful with skills and experience in conducting community-based education programs.
· A valid driver’s license and access to an automobile for travel in
Preferred –
· Master’s Degree.
· Experience in community organizing and/or partnering with grassroots communities and schools.
· Experience in writing grants and securing funds for projects.
· Experience working with diverse community stakeholders.
· Experience in conducting nutrition education activities involving food.
Salary
Salary will be commensurate with experience, with base salary of $40,000.00 (40 hours/week). The University of Maryland offers an extensive benefits package.
