Job Description
Work as a member of a 4-6 person CCETC/Ithaca Green Building Alliance working group that is responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of innovative educational programs in Green Building and Renewable Energy for Cornell Cooperative Extension Tompkins County (CCETC). Major programming emphasis is on contributing to the development of these two important economic sectors through education for consumers and businesses at the level of individuals, families, communities (including local government), and organizations on green building and renewable energy and relevant policy education. Other areas of importance to be addressed in collaboration with other CCE staff include energy efficiency and rural land use. Programming requires extensive outreach, collaboration, facilitation and grant writing.
The successful candidate will also facilitate community and volunteer leadership related to this programming, extend educational programming through community agencies, organizations and CCE volunteers to diverse audiences represent the Association to the public, community leaders, government officials and Cornell University and work as a team member in addressing local, regional and statewide programming priorities related to green building and renewable energy.
Job Qualifications
MS degree required in environmental education, engineering, forestry or agricultural sciences, economics or adult education or other major subjects appropriate to responsibilities of this position. One and preferable 3 years of related experience as a Cooperative Extension Educator or equivalent professional experience in teaching or education in a community setting preferred. Experience or background in one or more of the following areas: green building, renewable energy, or other environmentally related enterprises or economic sectors. Coursework in adult/youth education and communication is highly preferred.
