Brief description of duties:
The Assistant Director (Operations) is a full-time 12-month position with full benefits. In general, duties include developing, directing, organizing, and managing the day-to-day operations of the office as well as providing direct project and program support to the Vice Provost for International Education. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Answering questions, providing advice, problem-solving, and overseeing execution of all activities relevant to office operations.
Managing the design, development, coordination, and implementation of identified projects or initiatives of the Office of International Education as a whole.
Assisting the Vice Provost for International Education in preparing and monitoring OIE projects, in strategic planning activities for the University as a whole, and in welcoming international visitors.
Representing the Vice Provost when s/he is traveling or otherwise unavailable.
Contributing as a strategic member of the management team.
Serving as primary contact for and executor of all Human Resources related issues and documentation.
Supervising, hiring, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
Working with employees to improve communication, efficiency, and job satisfaction.
Participating in committees, training programs and professional development workshops and conferences.

Job Qualifications
Qualifications:
The Assistant Director (Operations) requires a Bachelors Degree, with a Masters Degree highly preferred. Must be from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization. Candidates holding only a Bachelors Degree will be required to have considerable experience, 3-5 years, in office operations and management in a higher education institution. Demonstrated interest in and commitment to the field of International Education and in working with students is required. Candidates should be outgoing with strong computer skills (Microsoft Office).The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience as a team player, will be able to work independently, and will have experience of business operations and management. Ability to travel and attend relevant conferences and/or seminars on an occasional basis is required.
