Job Description
Responsible for the delivery, implementation and evaluation of the Pest Management Program on Suffolk County owned and/or operated buildings and grounds as required by Local Law 34-1999. Coordinate the structural pest management program, train Suffolk County staff, provide information on alternative practices, evaluate progress and propose changes in the Pest Management program. Conduct demonstration trials in cooperation with Extension educators, Cornell faculty and other agencies. Special attention will be made to institute practices that have minimum adverse effects on public health and the environment. Attend and actively participate in the Suffolk County Pesticide Community Advisory Committee meetings.
Job Qualifications
BS required in pest management or related sciences (biology, entomology and vertebrate pest management) with an emphasis on structural pest management preferred. One or more years experience in Cooperative Extension or similar educational fields. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with a minimum amount of supervision. Willingness to travel and flexibility to work other than normal hours as required.
Desirable: MS in pest management or related sciences. Experience with integrated pest management for structural and public health pests.
