Job Description
Manage 7,000 acres of agricultural land, facilities and livestock (cattle and horses) used in the research and educational activities of the Northern Agricultural Research Center (NARC).
General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Care and monitoring of all livestock and livestock activities
- Hiring, training, and supervising all livestock personnel
- Coordinating use and maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Supervising research and educational activities
- Coordinating, collecting and summarizing data for research projects at NARC
Job Qualifications
- MS degree in animal science; experience in livestock and ranch operations **OR** BS degree in agriculture with considerable livestock, and research experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated skills in personnel and budget management
- Experience in livestock management and feedlot operations
- Recognized ability to handle livestock with Low Stress techniques
- Competence in computer skills (Microsoft office suite, ration balancing software, database use, IP protocols, network services, etc.)
- Established ability in Artificial Insemination, synchronization of heat techniques and pregnancy diagnosis
- Understanding of experimental design and statistics
