Job Description

-Do daily skilled maintenance of annuals, perennials, vines, and shrubs, and assist with tree and turf maintenance
-Design seasonal container plantings, procure plants, and assist with planting
-Source, approve, and install new plan material when needed, and develop maintenance plans once installed
-Perform environmentally-sensitive pest management and fertilization as needed on all plantings
-Make compost and mulch on an ongoing basis
-Assist with planting and maintenance of vegetable garden
-Assist with hardscape and irrigation maintenance
-Serve as an in-house authority on plant identification and culture, leading tours as needed
-Manage and oversee any outside contractors associated with the above
-Maintain and enforce garden standards with all contractors and seasonal staff

Job Qualifications

-Excellent working knowledge of aesthetic mixed-border maintenance in a temperate climate; Rocky Mountain region experience appreciated; horticulture degree and at least five years' direct experience preferred
-Excellent knowledge of plant nomenclature and culture requirements
-Commitment to high standards
-Strong oral and written communication skills
-Good computer skills with Word, Excel, and Outlook
-Ability and desire to work outdoors in various weather conditions, ability to life and move 50 pounds
